MOTHER by ILFORD Master Elinor Carucci

MOTHER_carucci.jpgILFORD Master Elinor Carucci has just published her book “MOTHER.” The book is an overview of her nearly decade long project photographing life as a mother. Discovering the highs and lows of motherhood, Elinor documents the emotions that come with giving birth to and raising twins. Elinor’s ability to capture small moments of real life is striking and challenging. Her work brings one into the moment of a photograph often evoking strong emotion, and not infrequently the sensation of sound, touch, and smell. This is a book of photographs that will inspire you. “MOTHER” is published by Prestel Publishing and is available at Amazon.com.

There are several events planned to celebrate the launch of “Mother.” The first is planned for October 12, 2013 at The Photographer’s Gallery in London. On October 18, 2013 at 6:00pm ICP, International Center of Photography, in New York will host a book signing event. To learn more about this event CLICK HERE.

ILFORD GALERIE Prestige Gold Fibre Silk figured prominently in this year’s competition for Portrait Photographer of the Year in Finland. Winner Antti Karppinen prepared his entry photographs on Gold Fibre Silk for the competition. “For this competition I decided to use Ilford Prestige Gold Fibre Silk paper,” says Karppinen. “I really loved the quality of the paper, the texture and the overall feeling in the colors the paper produces.”

Antti Karppinen has been taking pictures for a decade and working professionally as a photographer for about 6 years. With a strong background in retouching he has found his own unique style of photography. “I see the photos [finished] in my head before the shoot,” he says, “and I try to find the right means to [capture] my own vision.” (more…)

TECCO’s Markus Frings Discusses Alliance with ILFORD

Guest post by Markus Frings, Joint Managing Director

Screen Shot 2013-04-19 at 11.26.31 AMHere at TECCO we have been providing state-of-the-art supplies for the relevant printing and duplicating technologies for more than 30 years. We’ve won numerous accolades for our products and service, but recently we were paid the ultimate compliment when ILFORD approached us about joining forces in a strategic partnership.

Our entire TECCO team is focused on providing our customers with the highest level of service to match our top-quality media. Through our initial discussions I was excited to find this vision was shared by Paul Willems, the CEO of ILFORD Group AG. This mutual vision for our businesses is what really drove our decision to form this alliance with ILFORD.

Ultimately, we’ve strengthened our business with access to one of the most advanced research and development capabilities in our industry as well as a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant. The more we talked about combining these attributes with the TECCO best-in-class customer service model and converting facilities, the more we knew that these synergies could create a powerful business model in the market.

Beyond the dovetailing of our capabilities, one aspect of the planned partnership that really drove this decision to join up under the ILFORD Group AG umbrella was the unique opportunity to partner with ILFORD while maintaining our autonomy. We’ve spent more than 30 years building a loyal customer base and an established brand, so maintaining the TECCO presence was important.  As we move forward in this partnership towards our aligned business goals, I’m confident that both ILFORD and TECCO customers will see a noticeably strengthened product portfolio, and will feel the affects our bolstered customer service and distribution capabilities.

ILFORD Acquires TECCO

ILFORD Group AG acquires TECCO GmbH

Guest post by Paul Willems, CEO

Screen Shot 2013-04-16 at 9.48.07 AMILFORD Group AG, the parent company of ILFORD Imaging Switzerland GmbH, is excited to share the news that we have acquired German-based company, TECCO GmbH (www.tecco.de). Well-known for its extensive selection of photographic, fine art and commercial inkjet media, as well as solvent, proofing and laser papers, TECCO has an unmatched approach to servicing customers worldwide and is an ideal strategic partner whose values ring true to our own.

TECCO’s long history of offering its customers a solid product portfolio makes them a great addition to the ILFORD family and while both TECCO and ILFORD will continue to operate individually, the alliance will benefit from the synergies the two companies will bring.

This includes providing customers in our well-established markets with an improved level of customer service. This will be achieved through a winning combination of outstanding and complementary capabilities that only the two could jointly offer. We at ILFORD, along with TECCO, are excited to begin this new alliance and trust our customers will immediately benefit from this union.

Susanna Kraus and the IMAGOtour Walk-in Camera Featuring ILFORD

ILFORD direct positive fine art paper is the media for recording portraits in a unique Walk-in Camera. This behemoth of a camera was built by Werner Kraus together with his friend, the artist Erhard Hößle.  Susanna Kraus, like her father, is a visionary.  The original IMAGO1:1 was built in 1970 and is still in use. This is a camera like no other. The subject literally “walks in” to the camera where an image is recorded on direct exposure fine art portrait photo paper from ILFORD.

IMAGO1_1

Susanna Krauss with the original IMAGO1:1 walk in camera

Susanna and her sons have resurrected the camera after it was archived for many years. ILFORD makes the special direct positive analogue paper. Her dream is to build a new travel version of the IMAGO1:1 so that she can travel the world making these unique life size portraits. Learn more about the project in the video below or click here: www.imagophotour.com.

They are raising money using a source just as unique as the camera and process itself.  The fundraising is being done through an online source called “Kickstarter.” The deadline for the Kickstarter funding is March 20, 2013. Take a few minutes and check out this unique project and maybe you will want to be part of this historic project. CLICK HERE to learn more!
