Hallmark Institute of Photography is a unique educational institution. It offers a one of a kind 10-month intensive photo program that includes commercial, portrait, and wedding photography alongside multimedia and video training, business education and more. The days and weeks are long and the assignments challenging. And in the end students submit a collection of images for their final portfolio review. This is where the rubber meets the road. The student’s body of work is judged in both digital and digital print formats.
Each student is required not only to create, photograph, and process the image files. They are also required to make prints of each of the images, prints good enough to stand on their own in that all important final portfolio review. This year Hallmark’s digital team chose ILFORD GALERIE Prestige Smooth Pearl as the paper choice for final portfolios. “The images pop off the page,” says Director of Education, Lisa Devlin Robinson. “They look almost three dimensional.”
This video explains the process of the portfolio review process at Hallmark and it’s purpose and features freelance photographer, Gregory Heisler. “We plug into each and every student,” Heisler says. “Our goal is to give them feedback that will help them grow as photographers.” Watch the video below.
