ILFORD Master Elinor Carucci describing the first time she picked up her father’s camera loaded with B&W film says, “Something really significant happened in the way that I could see more… looking through the camera.” Born in Jerusalem, Israel Elinor served time in the Israeli army. She graduated from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design with a degree in photographyin 1995, and moved to New York that same year. “I think that looking at my own images I understand more about myself and my life and my family using photography to come with [my] life.” She says that pointing the camera directly at what causes pain helps to process and understand the pain and learn to deal with other aspects of life.
Finding the right process and paper to make prints on after her switch to digital proved difficult. She searched for an inkjet paper that would look, feel, and have the same archival properties as her darkroom papers had been. “I looked at the print and I loved it,” Carucci says of ILFORD GALERIE Gold Fibre Silk.
