ILFORD Master Seth Resnick and Gold Cotton Smooth fine art photo paper are an item. They simply love each other! ILFORD GALERIE Prestige Gold Cotton Smooth is one of 5 new fine art papers introduced in the US on March 1, 2013. It’s heavy at 330gsm, it has no optical brighteners, and the surface texture doesn’t interfere with the image. That’s all it took for Seth Resnick to fall madly in love.
“It’s heavy and one of the things I really look for when I’m making fine art prints or gallery prints… I want a paper that feels like ‘paper,’ not something I’m going to write on,” said Seth. “It looks absolutely, absolutely beyond awesome.”
Not only is Seth Resnick the newest ILFORD Master, he’s an X-Rite Coloratti, and Canon Explorer of Light. He and partner Jamie Spritzer own D-65 Digital Workflow, the workflow consulting and education arm of the business. And his latest venture with John Paul Caponigro called Digital Photo Destinations keeps him on the road to Antarctica, Iceland, and the Atacoma just to name a few of those destinations.
I caught up with Seth before trips to Antarctica and Iceland a few days ago to talk about his new favorite inkjet photo paper. We also talked about his work in Antarctica, Namibia, and South America. Enjoy this excerpt of our conversation.
