Congratulations to Alan Cring of Normal, Illinois who is the winner in the Follow ILFORD to Win! Giveaway that we ran during WPPI last month in Las Vegas. Alan is a user of ILFORD inkjet photo paper already and is very anxious to get started with testing other surfaces that he has not yet experienced. ” I am a dedicated user of Ilford papers,” says Alan. “When I produce 17”x11” prints of my landscape photographs, either for my own gallery or for customers, I always use Ilford Galerie.” We caught up with Alan to chat about his photography and why he uses ILFORD GALERIE inkjet photo paper. We were speaking to him the day the storms were rolling through the midwest so you’ll hear a bit of wind noise in the background!
Alan owns a studio in Normal called Emergent Light Studio. He is a professor as well as a photographer. His digital captures are artistically enhanced to communicate his vision. Alan uses sometimes mundane images to communicate space, time, and emotion. We really enjoyed the diversity of subject matter and the range of emotions his images evoke.
Learn more about Alan Cring and Emergent Light Studios at http://photos.alancring.com/. Read his blog called Journal of Photographic Artistry as well. His last entry from March 5 is called “Of Storms and Sunsets” is a poignant word and image commentary on the recent devastating storms in the US heartland. Alan has also prepared this short video to give you a glimpse at the body of his work. Enjoy.
